So what is the difference between unisex BCDs and ladies specific BCDs? First of all, the height of BCD. Women tend to have a slightly shorter upper body; therefore, ladies BCDs will have a shorter backplate which allows better weight distribution and cylinder support.  Secondly, the placement of straps and fastenings of so-called unisex BCD only really fitted men's anatomy. Ladies BCD had its design updated with chest and waist straps moved higher for a better, more natural and comfortable fit. These are little things, yes, but little thing make sometimes huge difference.
