Back Lift Buoyancy Compensator (BC) or Buoyancy Control Device (BCD) is one of the most critical devices in scuba diving. It gives you the ability to hover and maintain your neutral buoyancy underwater by adjusting the volume of gas in a BCD bladder. It also keeps you positively buoyant on the surface when needed. 

While jacket style BCD is mostly favoured by recreational divers, back lift BCDs finds its popularity amongst advanced and technical divers. Rear lift BCDs offer fantastic trim underwater, and it is argued it is easier to achieve perfect horizontal swimming position in this style of BCDs. Unlike jacket style BCD, back lift BCD will not have any part of the bladder at the front or sides and in this way offers more freedom, less drag and more comfortable, and natural feel while underwater.
