The Garmin Descent X10 dive computer is a rechargeable scuba diving computer for recreational divers who want clear, no-fuss dive data without paying for features they'll never use. It pairs a big 2.1″ sunlight-readable display with air and nitrox support, a 100 m depth rating and up to 50 hours of battery life in dive mode, all in a tough, lightweight case made from recycled ocean-bound plastic. Whether you're logging your first holiday dives or getting wet every weekend, the X10 keeps the essentials front and centre, then syncs your dives to the Garmin Dive app so you can relive them back on dry land.

Who Is the Garmin Descent X10 For?

Ideal for:

  • Newly qualified and beginner scuba divers who want an easy-to-read first dive computer
  • Recreational divers on air or nitrox up to 40% O2
  • Travelling divers who want long battery life and a rugged, lightweight unit
  • Freedivers who want an apnea mode alongside their scuba dive computer
  • Dive schools and centres that need rental-ready computers
  • Divers wanting a reliable backup alongside a main computer

Not ideal for:

  • Technical divers who need trimix or CCR support
  • Divers who want tank pressure on their wrist, as the X10 isn't an air integrated dive computer
  • Anyone wanting a full-colour display or a full-featured smartwatch
Diving Modes

The X10 covers the three modes most divers actually use. Single-gas scuba mode handles your normal recreational dives on air or nitrox, with a bottom gas and backup gas settings as listed by Garmin. Gauge mode turns it into a bottom timer if you prefer to plan your own dives or run tables. Apnea mode gives freedivers depth and timing on the same wrist computer. You can also set your conservatism, safety stop and alerts separately for each mode, so your freediving setup doesn't get in the way of your scuba one.

Air Integration

The Descent X10 is a standalone, wrist-mounted dive computer and doesn't support tank pressure transmitters, so there's no air integration. For many recreational divers that's perfectly fine: you keep an eye on your SPG as usual and let the X10 look after depth, time and decompression. If seeing your gas on your wrist matters to you, take a look at our air integrated dive computers.

Display & Usability

Garmin has put the screen first on this one. The 2.1″ display uses large text that stays readable in bright sunlight and in murky water, and the backlight can be configured so it works the way you want. Buttons are leakproof inductive buttons, there are custom dive data screens to set up your layout, and an ascent and descent rate indicator keeps you honest on the way up. After the dive, the Garmin Dive app (iPhone and Android) logs your entry and exit locations and stores up to 200 dives on the watch itself.

Battery & Connectivity

You get up to 50 hours of use in dive mode and up to 6 months in standby, on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that charges with Garmin's proprietary plug charger. That's a full week of dive holiday and then some without reaching for the cable. Bluetooth® handles the link to your phone and the Garmin Dive app, so your dive log is up to date by the time you're back at the dive centre.
