Ten Years of Supporting UK Marine Conservation with Sea-Changers

Sea changers and Mike's Dive Store

Kasia Neugebauer |

As the year gently winds down and the kindest month of the year rolls in, it feels like the right moment to pause, reflect, and say thank you.

Christmas is a time when sharing feels more natural, generosity comes more easily, and we’re reminded of what really matters. For us at Mike’s Dive Store, that’s the sea — and the incredible community of divers, snorkellers, and ocean-lovers who care deeply about protecting it.

That’s why we want to take a moment to remind you of something we’re incredibly proud of.

Over £20,000 Raised for UK Marine Conservation 🌊

Since 2015, Mike’s Dive Store has proudly partnered with Sea-Changers, donating 1% of our profits to support grassroots marine conservation projects across the UK. Thanks to your support, we’ve now passed a major milestone:

👉 over £20,827 raised in total
👉 over £654 donated in 2025 so far

Crossing the £20,000 mark was a huge moment for us — and one that simply wouldn’t be possible without you choosing to shop with purpose.

Every mask, fin, wetsuit, and accessory purchased helps feed directly into Sea-Changers’ grant fund, which supports projects protecting the very waters we dive, snorkel, and explore.

What Your Support Helps Fund

Sea-Changers distributes 100% of the money raised to UK-based marine conservation projects. These grants support vital work including:

  • Direct marine clean-ups
  • Education and awareness around marine conservation
  • Protection of vulnerable species and habitats
  • Conservation research
  • Community-led, grassroots projects that often wouldn’t exist without this funding

Sea-Changers funded a huge number of 450 projects so far,  tackling everything from ocean plastics and species protection to coastal water fountains and local conservation initiatives.

This is hands-on, practical conservation — driven by people who genuinely care about the sea.

A Partnership Built on Shared Values

At Mike’s Dive Store, we’ve always believed that every dive should leave nothing behind but bubbles. Supporting Sea-Changers is a natural extension of that belief.

We’re proud to be part of a growing community of Sea-Changers businesses and individuals — people who enjoy the ocean, rely on it, and feel a responsibility to give something back.

As Steve Brown, Managing Director at Mike’s Dive Store, puts it:

“The UK’s seas give our customers a rich variety of opportunities to enjoy their sport. We are delighted to play our part in helping ensure healthy oceans and coastlines for future generations of divers. Reaching this fundraising milestone makes us incredibly proud.”

And from Sea-Changers themselves:

“It’s great working with Mike’s Dive Store and receiving their fantastic support. With Christmas coming up, we hope divers and their families will choose to do their Christmas shopping at Mike’s Dive Store and raise money for even more projects at the same time.”
— Rachel Lopata, Co-Founder of Sea-Changers

Why This Matters — Now More Than Ever

Our seas are under pressure from pollution, overfishing, climate change, and a lack of protection. Acting now is critical if we want clean, healthy waters and thriving marine life in the future.

Sea-Changers’ mission is simple but powerful:

  • Harness people’s love for the sea
  • Inspire practical action
  • Enable businesses to make a real difference
  • Fund grassroots conservation where it matters most

And we’re proud to play our part in making that happen.

Thank You for Being Sea-Changers

If you’ve ever shopped with us, donated alongside us, or shared our values — thank you. This milestone belongs to you as much as it does to us.

As we head into Christmas and look towards the new year, we remain committed to continuing our partnership with Sea-Changers and supporting the incredible work they do.

Because protecting the oceans isn’t a one-off campaign — it’s an ongoing commitment.

If you’re passionate about protecting our oceans and want to get involved, or if you know someone who might be able to help, we encourage you to reach out directly to Sea-Changers at info@sea-changers.org.uk. Together, we can make an even bigger impact on the future of our marine environments.

Here’s to another year of diving responsibly, supporting our seas, and changing things for the better — together.
