Apeks Regulator Package: MTX-R + Miflex Gauges + BCD Hose
There are cold-water regulators, and then there is the Apeks MTX-R. Developed from the MTX — a regulator built in direct collaboration with the United States Navy Experimental Dive Unit for extreme cold-water testing — the MTX-R brings that same military-grade engineering pedigree to recreational diving. The "M" stands for Military. The "R" stands for recreational. The result is one of the most capable cold-water regulators available to consumer divers anywhere in the world. Paired with the Miflex Black Faced Tech SPG and a Miflex BCD hose, this package gives you a complete, battle-hardened breathing system ready to connect straight to your existing rig.
At the heart of the package is the Apeks MTX-R Regulator Set, designed and manufactured in the UK. The first stage is built around a breakthrough over-moulded endcap and environmental diaphragm — an innovative design that prevents ice build-up in extreme cold, the primary cause of first-stage free-flows in near-freezing water, while also protecting the first stage from impact damage. A ribbed diaphragm clamp adds further heat exchange performance, and the unique over-balanced diaphragm design delivers increasing medium pressure gas at a faster rate than ambient as you descend, giving you superior breathing at depth. Five medium-pressure ports — including a fifth with a protective bumper when not in use — and two angled high-pressure ports provide full flexibility for hose routing and transmitter fitting. A double swivel hose adds freedom of movement, and an easy one-hand-release DIN handwheel or over-moulded yoke handwheel makes tank changes straightforward even in thick gloves. Nitrox and oxygen compatible up to 40% O2, and fully tested for octopus use to EN250A at 60 metres in cold water. The second stage is equally well considered — an oversized breathing effort adjuster and large self-flushing purge button are both designed for use with gloves on, while large elastomer bumpers protect the most vulnerable points from impacts and scratches. A patented heat exchanger draws in the warmth of ambient water to offset the cold caused by gas expansion, delivering a noticeably more comfortable breathe in cold conditions. The reversible design accommodates left or right-hand gas supply, and a flexible nylon braided hose, double swivel and Comfo-bite mouthpiece complete a second stage engineered for serious, repeated use. No single-use plastic in the packaging.
Completing the breathing system is the Apeks MTX-R Octopus, built to the same exacting cold-water standard as the primary second stage. Highly visible and straightforward to operate, it provides a reliable backup air source your buddy can reach for with confidence.
Connecting your regulator to your BCD is the Miflex Xtreme BCD Hose, fitted with a standard 3/8" quick-release coupler suitable for most BCDs, wings and drysuits. Flexible, lightweight and flow-rate tested to EN 1809:2014 standards, it routes cleanly and reliably across any setup.
Finally, choose your gauge setup:
- Miflex SPG fitted with 80cm Carbon HD hose: lightweight, compact and uncomplicated
- Miflex Double Console with Depth Gauge and SPG: pressure gauge + depth gauge in a compact, easy-to-read console
Package includes:
- Apeks MTX-R Regulator Set (First Stage, Second Stage + Octopus)
