Quick summary: Both the SEAC Modular and SEAC Modular R.E.V are 100% customisable, travel-ready wing-style BCDs built for experienced divers who demand flexibility and durability. The key difference? The R.E.V upgrades to Cordura 1000D fabric throughout and adds a Rapid Exhaust Valve (R.E.V.) and a premium piston inflator — making it the choice for divers who want the fastest gas management at depth.
Whether you're a technical diver, dive centre instructor, or a frequent liveaboard traveller, the SEAC Modular series offers a level of interchangeability that few BCDs on the market can match. In this guide, we'll walk you through each model's specs, features, key differences, and help you decide which one belongs in your kit bag.

What Both BCDs Share
SEAC designed both the Modular and the Modular R.E.V on the same core platform, so you get a consistent experience of quality and customisability across the range before the key upgrades diverge.

The Modular — Built for Freedom
The SEAC Modular is the ideal entry point into serious modular diving. Its super-resistant ballistic nylon outer shell and 3D mesh construction give you a robust, breathable platform that can be entirely reconfigured around your diving style. Every part is interchangeable — harness, backplate, bladder, pockets — so your BCD evolves as your diving does.
One standout feature of the Modular is its adjustable sternal strap, which can be positioned in two distinct locations to achieve the perfect fit for your torso and gear configuration. The outer bag is made from Cordura 1000D fabric housing a 400-micron polyurethane air bladder, with the inflator positioned conveniently at the elbow.
The Modular ships with everything you need to dive straight out of the box, and SEAC's wide accessories ecosystem means you can add to it as your kit grows:

SEAC Modular R.E.V BCD — In Depth
The R.E.V — Built for Serious Divers
The SEAC Modular R.E.V (Rapid Exhaust Valve) takes everything that makes the Modular great and pushes it further. The entire outer shell is upgraded to Cordura 1000D denier fabric — the same material used in professional dive bags and technical gear — and the bladder system is paired with a precision piston inflator for accurate gas management. The headline feature, the Rapid Exhaust Valve, gives you faster, more controlled buoyancy adjustment at depth.

Rapid Exhaust Valve (R.E.V)
The defining upgrade of this model is the integrated Rapid Exhaust Valve connected directly to the corrugated inflator hose. This allows you to dump air from the bladder faster and with more precision than a conventional overpressure valve alone — a significant advantage when managing buoyancy during ascents or switching between horizontal and vertical positions.
Durable Piston Inflator
The R.E.V is equipped with an extremely robust piston inflator, replacing the elbow-position inflator found on the standard Modular. The piston mechanism provides precise, easy-to-dose inflation with a smoother action — meeting the high quality standard of the entire Modular series while adding better long-term durability in saltwater environments.
Cordura 1000D Throughout
Whereas the standard Modular uses ballistic nylon for the harness and some panels, the R.E.V uses Cordura 1000-denier fabric for the entire outer bag and bladder housing. Cordura 1000D is renowned for its superior abrasion resistance and durability, making the R.E.V better suited to demanding environments including cave diving, wreck diving, and heavy liveaboard use.

Why Modular BCDs Are Perfect for Travel
Both BCDs are engineered with the travelling diver in mind. At just 3 kg and designed to disassemble rapidly into compact components, either model fits easily into checked luggage alongside your other dive gear — or even into a larger carry-on. Compare that to traditional jacket-style BCDs that can weigh 4–6 kg and refuse to pack flat.
The modular architecture also means that if a single component is damaged during travel or a dive, you can replace just that part rather than the entire BCD — a significant long-term cost saving for frequent travellers and dive professionals.
