When our very own Steve joined Fourth Element’s trip to Mexico, he met a fellow diver named Andrew — one of those people you instantly click with. It turned out Andrew runs Global Dive, an Auckland-based dive centre that’s become known as New Zealand’s friendliest and most professional hub for both recreational and technical diving.
After hearing about their incredible community and the adventures they run — from local dives around Auckland to tropical trips in the Pacific — we knew we had to give them a proper shout-out. So, if you ever find yourself in New Zealand (or just dreaming of your next dive holiday), these are the guys to dive with.

The Heart of New Zealand’s Dive Scene
Tucked away in Auckland, Global Dive has earned a reputation as one of the country’s leading dive centres. They cater to every level of diver, from curious beginners taking their first breath underwater to seasoned tech divers chasing depth and precision.
Their team includes some of the most experienced instructors in the country, offering a full range of SSI courses — from Open Water to Divemaster as well as plenty of specialities and technical courses. Whether you’re keen to build confidence or push your limits, you’ll find world-class training and a supportive team ready to help you get there.

But what really makes Global Dive stand out isn’t just their expertise — it’s their community-driven approach. They’re passionate about creating an environment where divers feel welcome, connected, and inspired to explore more.

A Club That Feels Like Family
At the centre of everything they do is the Global Dive Club — a tight-knit but always welcoming group that brings together divers from all walks of life. The club runs regular local trips around Auckland’s coastline, visiting sites like the Poor Knights Islands, Hen and Chicken Islands, and Northland’s iconic wrecks such as the Rainbow Warrior and Canterbury.
If you’re after a quick day trip, a relaxed weekend getaway, or something a bit more adventurous, there’s always something happening. And when the New Zealand waters start to cool, the team looks further afield to warmer destinations — think Fiji’s colourful reefs, the Philippines’ macro heaven, and the Maldives’ manta rays.
Each trip, whether local or international, has that same friendly, community feel. You’re not just signing up for a dive; you’re joining a group of like-minded ocean lovers who genuinely enjoy sharing the experience — both underwater and over a post-dive drink.

What Divers Are Saying About Global Dive
Global Dive isn’t just a dive centre — it’s a community of divers who genuinely enjoy exploring the underwater world together. Don’t just take our word for it — here’s what some of their divers have to say:
“If we don’t get another chance to dive with Global Dive before we leave, I just wanted to thank you all so much for helping me get into scuba diving and offering me such incredible experiences in something I know I will continue for the rest of my life. All the certification we did through Global Dive was wonderful and hopefully I have a chance to make it back to New Zealand at some point later in my life.”
– Michael, USA
“Had great fun during the course, excellent guidance!”
– Remy, Netherlands
“The best thing about Global Dive is that you will meet lots of other lovely divers and will want to keep diving all year round.”
– Deralie, Auckland
“Great place to train, epic trips, and a club full of a wide range of smart, funny, safe divers who are a pleasure to hang out with. Thanks team!”
– Deralie, Auckland
And if you do find yourself at Global Dive, make sure to not turn down the offer of a cuppa — Andrew’s a fellow Brit who knows that some things in life, like a good cup of tea, are simply non-negotiable! It’s a little reminder of home, served up with a side of Kiwi hospitality and plenty of dive talk to go around.
