Proper care is essential to prolonging the life of your garment.

How to Care for Your Musto Footwear

For the best care of your shoes, we recommend using Granger’s Products, though there are many options available. Always refer to the care label on your footwear for specific instructions.

Cleaning

  • To clean your leather shoes, we recommend using Granger’s Footwear Cleaner .
  • Remove any loose dirt or debris before application.
  • Follow the directions on your cleaning product.
  • Allow your footwear to dry naturally.

Protecting

  • Proper maintenance and care of your leather shoes are essential to prevent cracking or water staining and to ensure optimal performance. We suggest using Granger’s Leather Conditioner.
  • Make sure your footwear is clean before applying any product.
  • Apply the leather conditioner to a clean cloth and rub it in a circular motion onto your footwear.
  • Always follow the instructions on the conditioner.

Drying

  • Allow your shoes to dry naturally before use.
  • If the inside of your shoe is wet from sailing or outdoor activities, stuff them with newspaper to absorb most of the moisture.
  • Avoid exposing your shoes to direct heat sources such as the sun, radiator, stove, or open fire.

Storage

  • Store your shoes or boots away from direct sunlight and heat sources like radiators.

How to Care for Your Musto Suede, Synthetic & Mixed Fabric Footwear

For the best care of your shoes, we recommend using Granger’s Products, although many other options are available. Always refer to the care label on your footwear for specific instructions.

Cleaning

  • Remove any loose dirt, sand, or dust, and take off the shoe laces.
  • Use a damp, soft sponge or cloth to clean your shoes. For suede shoes, use a dry brush instead. Steam from an iron or kettle can help loosen stubborn stains on suede.
  • If water alone is not effective and soap is needed, use a special footwear cleaner. We recommend Granger’s Footwear Cleaner for leather, suede, and synthetic shoes.

Proofing

  • Musto footwear is treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) treatment, which prevents the material from becoming saturated with water. Over time, this treatment can wear off due to wear and tear, salt, dirt, and water. It is important to protect and reproof your shoes and boots to maintain their performance. We suggest using Granger’s Footwear Proofer, though there are other options available.
  • Ensure your shoes are clean before applying any proofer.
  • Spray the proofer product directly onto the shoe from the recommended distance.
  • Remove any excess product with a clean, dry cloth.
