What is BR1 Fabric?
Musto BR1 is a versatile technology used in various active sports, including equestrian, sailing, and country pursuits like shooting. Whether you're on the seas or in the city, BR1 fabric provides reliable protection as an outer or mid layer against unpredictable weather. This technology is used in mid and outer layers, including jackets, trousers, breeks, and salopettes.
Musto determines the waterproof capability of its fabric using a hydrostatic waterhead test. This involves stretching BR1 fabric tightly over a tube, filling the tube with water, and measuring the amount of water that leaks through the fabric after 24 hours. The height of the water column in millimeters represents the hydrostatic waterhead measurement.

Even after the fabric has been washed five times, BR1 has a minimum hydrostatic waterhead of 5,000mm up to 10,000mm. This is a significantly higher waterproof rating than the industry minimum of 1,500mm.
BR1 fabrics allow 5,000g of moisture to pass through it, giving it a breathability rating of 5,000g/24hrs.
