Like the tailfin of a Humpback, SCUBAPRO’s Twin Jet Fin uses a split hydrofoil shape to deliver more forward motion with less effort. A whole lot more kicking power with a whole lot less effort and drag: check out a Humpback, its twin jet tail can lift a mega-ton! As a result, our Twin Jet fin is by now the fastest fin ever tested.

  'I'M CONVERTED'
Strengths: minimal effort, speed, manouverability
Weaknesses: heavy (out of the water), pricey, not keen on the buckles with slippery hands
Overall: after months of checking reviews i went against my preference for paddle fins and gambled on my first pair of split fins. all i can say is, i'm SO happy i did!! for years i used mares quattros, before changing to mares volo power for the past 3 years. i loved my volos because they were just so easy on the legs and (contrary to what some would have you believe) provided me with plenty of power when needed. the reason i wanted to try something new was because the volos just don't seem built to last. they seem to compromise lightness and flexibility for durability. had i bought new volos, it would've been my 3rd pair in as many years!! i've been testing my new jet fin max's for the past 2 weeks and i'm absolutely amazed that they are putting my beloved volos firmly in the shade. as a scuba instructor, there are times when i just need to grab hold of a student (or two) and power my way through a current with as little effort as possible, and these fins are giving me fantastic response in the power department. acceleration and manouverability are excellent as well. the foot pocket is fantastic in that it comes all the way to the back of the heel, meaning the liklihood of cramps is almost non-existant. the reviews i'd read mentioned that they are pretty long, however when i compared them to my volos, they're exactly the same dimension-wise so no complaints there. these fins are pretty heavy so maybe something to think about for the travelling diver, and i'm not too keen on the buckles, although i think that's because i'm so used to the mares ABS system. the good news is that you can substitute these for the (apparently) excellent steel spring straps on the market. that's what i plan to do in the next week or so. over-all, i cannot praise these fins highly enough based on my first couple of weeks of use. providing they survive the rigors of daily diving without falling apart, i can see myself being converted to split-fins for a long time to come. i'm rating them 9 out of 10, but that's only due to not being able to comment on their durability over a longer period of time. looking through other reviews, it seems the (atomic aquatics) smoke on the water fins are actually achieving even higher test results than the twin jet max. however, since i often have students in limited visibility, i always go for highly visual fins eg. yellow. it's a shame the atomic aquatics fin only comes in black, otherwise i'd definately have been tempted by them. something to really look into if a high-vis colour isn't a big deal to you. hope this is heplful to those, like is was, who are agonizing over spending a pretty hefty sum of cash for these top rated fins. i'd bet you won't be disappointed. final point... they work much better when taking smaller leg kicks (actually recommended by scubapro).

Mr Paul Bowen. p.s. I took delivery from yourselves yesterday of a Pinnacle Arctic ME 7 wet suit. Having trawled the internet for what seemed like an eternity, and after being let down by so many others, you are the only people who could genuinely supply and deliver the goods. The suit arrived in perfect condition and on time. Thank you, the service was excellent. !
